Joan Applebaum is a professional artist, who has exhibited her work throughout New York State. She is also a local teaching artist and Visual Arts Coordinator and Instructor for youth, teens and adults at the East Area Family YMCA in Fayetteville, NY.

She earned her B.A. at SUNY Potsdam in Arts Studio and Photography.

Joan has taught classes at the Thousand Island Arts Center in Clayton, several after-school programs for Partners for Arts Education, a workshop at the Everson Museum and Kids in Art at SUNY Upstate Medical. 

Her exhibits have included solo shows at the Delavan Art Gallery, the Adirondack Centers for the Arts in Blue Mountain Lake and Old Forge, NY and the Community Arts Council Gallery in Utica, NY. 

Reproductions of her illustrations have appeared in SUNY Upstate's Center for Bioethics and Humanities Healing Muse.

Her artwork is represented in private and corporate collections across New York State.

She holds memberships in the following professional organizations: The CNY Branch National League of American Pen Women, Associated Artists of Syracuse and Cultural Resources Council's Visual Arts Committee.
